Silver Lake Sweeps Seneca

In a pair of 5-4 games, Silver Lake claimed the West Division of the Northeast Kansas League with a sweep of Seneca.

In game one Silver Lake scored one run in the first, two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth to lead 5-1 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Seneca didn’t go away easily as Damon Koch collected an RBI groundout and Dalton Huerter doubled in two, but Silver Lake’s Conor Prusyer induced a ground out with runners at second and third to end the game.

Prusyer was named the McDonald’s Player of the Game on KNZA as he collected two hits and one RBI at the plate while tossing a complete game not allowing an earned run with four strikeouts on the mound.

Mason Schwartz, Jake Wegner, Keagan Zordel and Matt Barnes each collected RBIs for Silver Lake while Barnes and Zordel each added two hits.

In game two Seneca held a 3-2 lead before Silver Lake plated three runs in the third to take control and win 5-4.

Calvin Carman collected two hits and an RBI for Silver Lake while Kaden Walker tossed four innings allowing just two runs.

Seneca in the loss received two hits from Evan Schmitz and Damon Koch while Eric Hammes and Andrew Henry added RBIs.

July 7 Recaps

Corning Takes Two from Seneca

In game one Ian Haverkamp didn't allow a single run as Corning defeated Seneca 10-0 in four innings.

Austin Holthaus singled in a run in the three-run first inning while in the fifth Corning scored five more on an RBI-single from Holthaus and an RBI groundout by Treydon Talley.

Zac Fischer and Treydon Talley each collected three RBIs in the win while Holthaus added two and Trenton Talley one.

In game two Corning picked up a thrilling 3-2 victory scoring a run in extra innings to sweep the doubleheader.

Corning scored two runs in the first on an RBI double from Austin Holthaus, but Seneca tied the game with a run in the third on an RBI single from Dylan Schultejans and one in the fourth on a solo home run from Bryce Uphaus.

That 2-2 score held up until the sixth when Holthaus singled in the game-winning run.

Holthaus had all three RBIs in the win Zac Fischer tossed all six innings to pick up the win.
