Axtell Looks to Complete Perfect Season with 8M-II State Title on Saturday

The Axtell Eagles will be looking to complete a perfect season with an 8M-II State Championship on Saturday when they face Wheatland/Grinnell in Newton.

Axtell improved to 12-0 after winning at 2nd ranked Thunder Ridge on Friday night in the Sub-State round 46-0.

Their run to the State Title game was Beloit St. John’s-Tipton, Hanover, Waverly, and Thunder Ridge.

Standing in their way this weekend is the Wheatland/Grinnell Thunderhawks. The Thunderhawks improved to 11-1 after defeating Victoria 42-30 on Friday night in the Sub-State round.

These two teams played in week one back on September 3rd in Axtell with the Eagles winning big 62-16. Wheatland/Grinnell has won 11 straight games since that loss.

The 8M-II State Title game can be heard on 92.1 KZMA on Saturday with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM from Fischer Field in Newton, KS. Kickoff set for 3:30 PM.
