The Onaga girls basketball team opened the season with a solid win on the road against TVL opponent Wetmore.

The Lady Buffaloes used a 15-4 advantage in the second quarter to take a 13 point halftime lead and they were able to hold off the Cardinals the rest of the way.

Both teams finished the game with 25 turnovers. Onaga was 7/19 at the free throw line while Wetmore converted just 5/14 foul shots.

Onaga was led by Bridgett Campbell who finished the game with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Maria Krohn also posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Kaylee Foote and Kenzie Strathman each finished with 8 points for Wetmore. Strathman is a returning 1st Team All-League player from last season and she picked up four fouls in the first half and fouled out early in the third quarter.

BOYS: Onaga 31, Wetmore 40

The Wetmore boys also used a solid second quarter outscoring Onaga 17-6 to take a 28-15 halftime lead.

Cardinals were led by Jacob Carls with 12 points and 9 rebounds while Eric Bloom added 11 points and five rebounds. Braden Henry finished just shy of a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
