Valley Heights Girls Stay Unbeaten; Frankfort Boys Win Big

The Valley Heights girls and Frankfort boys both picked up wins on Tuesday night in their TVL showdowns in Frankfort. 

Girls: Valley Heights 42, Frankfort 37 

This game was close from the jump between two teams that entered the game undefeated. Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter as it was 5-5 through the first eight minutes. 

Valley Heights would outscore the Wildcats 14-13 in the second quarter to take a 19-18 lead into halftime. 

Frankfort would outscore Valley Heights 14-13 in the third quarter and the game was tied at 32 going into the fourth quarter. 

The Mustangs made some key shots and had big defensive stops down the stretch to hold off Frankfort and improve to 4-0. The Wildcats take their first loss and are now 4-1. 

Emma Yungeberg led the Mustangs with 15 points and nine rebounds while Maggie Toerber added 10 points and Maddy Vermetten with nine. 

Frankfort was led by Emma Hardwick with 13 points and five rebounds and they also got 11 points from Kayla Cornelison. 

Boys: Valley Heights 34, Frankfort 56 

The Wildcats wasted no time in this game jumping out to an early 12-0 lead and led 19-2 at the end of the first quarter. 

Valley Heights played a much better second quarter but still trailed 34-12 at halftime and the two teams tied 22-22 in the second half. 

Samuel Gros led the way for Frankfort with 17 points and eight rebounds. Caden Dalinghaus added 12 and Keller Olson pitched in with 11 as the Wildcats improved to 4-1. 

Mustangs dropped to 0-4 and they were led in scoring by Trayton Claycamp and Dustin Denton each with nine points while Logan Gray added eight. 

Frankfort is off for the holiday break while Valley Heights will host Doniphan West on Friday night.
