Troy Sweeps Onaga on Tuesday Night
By Brandon Tadtman

The Troy Trojans picked up two wins on Tuesday night over the Onaga Buffaloes in a Twin Valley League doubleheader.

Girls: Onaga 32, Troy 60

This was a tough game for Onaga as they were with only six players and without their head coach due to Covid.

Troy jumped out to a 13-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and was able to grind out that lead the rest of the game.

Multiple times in the third quarter Onaga was able to creep back within 14 points but was unable to get it any closer.

Troy was led by Paityn Engemann with 27 points while Onaga was led in scoring by Bridgett Campbell who finished with 16 points and six rebounds.

Troy improves to 3-4 with the win while Onaga drops to 2-6 after the loss.

Boys: Onaga 33, Troy 51

This game was about defense in the first half as both teams struggled to score.

Troy led 8-2 after the first eight minutes and Onaga didn't land their first points until a minute left in the quarter.

Both teams picked up things offensively in the second quarter as Troy built a 17-7 halftime lead.

The game changed in the third quarter as Troy scored the first 11 points and outscored Onaga 26-9 in the quarter and was able to coast the rest of the way.

Jerrit Norris led the Trojans with 16 points while Cam Anderson added 14. Onaga was led in scoring by Casey Myers with 10 points while Colby Simkins added eight in the fourth quarter.

Troy wins their 5th straight and are 5-2 while the Buffaloes drop to 2-6 after the loss.

Up next for both is the Twin Valley League Tournament which begins this weekend.
