Centralia Girls Roll while Troy Boys Knock Off Panthers
By Brandon Tadtman

In a TVL showdown on Tuesday night it was a split as the Centralia girls remain unbeaten while the Troy boys pick up a crucial league win in the night cap.

Girls: Centralia 59, Troy 31

Up to #2 this week in 1A-I, the Centralia girls improve to 11-0 after winning big at Troy 59-31.

Troy led after the first quarter by two but a 13-0 run to open the second quarter by Centralia created separation as they were able to control the pace the rest of the way.

Our reigning athlete of the week Lena Haverkamp posted another strong night with 17 points to lead all scorers. Oen Deters added 12 points while Avery Deters was three points shy of a double-double with seven points and 10 rebounds.

Troy with the loss drops to 5-8 as they were led in scoring by Reagan Hill with nine.

Boys: Centralia 38, Troy 51

The Panther boys, coming off an impressive run and claiming the TVL tournament this past weekend had their eight game winning streak snapped in the loss to Troy.

Game was tight in the first half as Troy led by two at the intermission but a 25-14 second half by the Trojans was enough to get the win.

Jerrit Norris was unstoppable for the Trojans as he finished with 29 points and eight rebounds after leaving early in the game with an injury.

Norris was back minutes later and took over the game.

The Panthers were led by Trenton Talley with 18 points while Presly Bowers added 10 points and six rebounds.

Panthers drop to 8-3 while the Trojans improve to 9-4 with the win.

Up next for both, Centralia goes to Hanover on Friday while Troy will be in action at Washington County.
