Valley Falls Boys Clinch NEKL Title

The Valley Falls boys basketball team are Northeast Kansas League Champions for 2021-2022. 

The Dragons have been dominate all season long as they're currently undefeated at 18-0 and ranked third in Class 2A in the latest rankings from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association behind only Hillsboro and St. Mary's. 

Head coach Caleb Gatzemeyer went over 200 career wins earlier this season and now has 210 for his career. 

The team is filled with veterans as they have eight seniors on the roster and have one of the most potent offenses in the state as they average over 65 points per game on 48% shooting from the field. 

Another key stat is that they average nearly 16 assists per game and only eight turnovers per game. 

The Dragons post three players right now in double-figures led by senior Avery Gatzemeyer who is averaging over 15 points per game. Junior Dylan Cervantez tallies over 14 points and six rebounds per game and sophomore Zac Evans averages over 12 points and six rebounds per game. 

Senior Trenton Kraxner averages nearly eight points per game and is leading rebounder at over eight boards per game. 

The Dragons will look to complete an undefeated season as they will host Jefferson County North on Friday and travel to McLouth on Tuesday before Sub-State.
