Seneca Post 21 and Colby Post 363 took each other on at a later initial start time than what was initially planned at 2:00 PM today, instead of the original 11:00 AM time. Colby Post 363 won by a final score of 12-8 after making a spectacular late comeback in the seventh inning.

The game started with Colby getting on in the first off of a wild pitch with Eloy Ruelas coming through to score. Seneca would respond in the bottom of the first with four runs off three hits, with Jack Macke, Evan Olberding, and Derek Wurtz all starting the game with three straight singles between them.

Colby would score two runs in the third, but Seneca would hold the lead over Colby until the fifth inning, where Colby would tie it with one run in the top of the fifth off an RBI single from Talon Andreason. Seneca broke the tie with a leadoff double from Evan Olberding, followed by back-to-back hits by Wurtz and Reese Gerety, taking the lead 5-4 exiting the fifth.

Two more runs would come through in the bottom of the sixth for Seneca as insurance for the seventh, having a 7-4 lead before entering the final inning. However, Colby would explode with eight runs off seven hits and an error in the top of the seventh, retaking the lead 12-7.

Seneca got the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, but were unfortunately only able to get one run to come through to bring the score to the 12-8 final.

The McDonald’s in Hiawatha and Seneca player of the game went to Evan Olberding for his three-for-four at the plate performance, recording two doubles, a single, an RBI, and two runs as well. Seneca finished with nine total hits in the game and left eight on base.

Brayden Foss from Colby post 363 was the winning pitcher of the game, having come in after the third inning as the third pitcher of the game for Colby, and proceeded to only allow four runs through five innings off five hits, while recording two strikeouts.

Seneca will now play the loser of the Iola vs Smith County game, set to be played later today at 7:00 PM at 8:00 AM tomorrow. While Colby plays the winner at 3:30 PM
